When I was a little girl, I loved watching my Dad work on cars in his shop. He was a mechanic. A repeat client of his remembered my birthday every year by sending me a simple letter with a stick of gum inside. That simple gesture made me feel so special and most importantly… SEEN.

And then one year… the letters stopped arriving.

I asked my mother about it and she said he passed away. Decades later, I’ve never forgotten how his cards made me feel.
